Herb Getz

Herb is primarily responsible for development, budgeting and scheduling of Aspen Creek Partners projects. Along with his partner, Cory Smith, Herb works closely with Aspen Creek clients in guiding them through the fixture and finish selection and ordering process, which is key to an on time and on budget project.
An attorney by training, Herb spent 20 years managing large merger and acquisition, financing, and industrial and commercial facility development projects as an executive with a large multi-national service company. He also has over 25 years experience in real estate acquisition and development as a partner in a real estate development firm in Northwest Illinois. He is a member of the Northern Illinois Home Builders Association.
Herb is also active in community and charitable affairs, serving as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington), a Past Chairman of the Community United Methodist Church Foundation (Naperville), and a Director and Founding Member of the Live Downtown Naperville Partnership, a committee of the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce that promoted the responsible redevelopment of the Downtown Naperville area. He served for six years as a member of the Board of Directors of Cress Creek Country Club, during which he served as Chairman of the Building Committee and managed the $8.1 million reconstruction of the Club's Club House, Bath House and Pump House facilities.
Herb holds degrees from Illinois Wesleyan University and the Harvard Law School.
Cory Smith

Cory is the principal owner of Cory Smith Architecture, an award-winning firm with over 30 years of experience in residential and commercial design and construction. CS+Architecture has significant experience with new homes and the renovation/ of existing residences in the Chicago-land area. Many of his projects have been featured in Naperville Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens, Houzz and West Suburban Living.
As a partner in Aspen Creek Partners, Cory is involved from the initial design concept meeting through the generation of construction documents and securing the necessary building permits. He partners with clients on selections – which include both interior and exterior detailing and finishes. With over 35 years of construction experience ranging from residential, retail, commercial, multi family and office build-out, he is also involved in construction scheduling for every project.
Cory holds a Masters Degree in Architecture with an emphasis on Housing from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelors of Science degree in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Several of his drawings are housed in the Library of Congress in Washington D.C.
Previous employment includes experience at both architecture and construction companies and as the owners building representative for several small to medium size firms throughout the Midwest. Together, it provides a wealth of experience in all aspects of design, construction and budgeting for many sized projects; from small renovations to large-scale commercial, banking and multi-family housing projects.
Cory is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Association of Licensed Architects, is a board member of the Building Review Board for the City of Naperville and for the Cress Creek Homeowner's Association.
